Vigil honors victims of violence

Posted: Updated:

Victims of crime often leave behind grieving families, they are the ones left searching for answers after murders.

Thursday night many of them came together to remember their loved ones, along with others touched by violence for a vigil.

It was part of National Crime Victim's Rights Week, both families affected by crime and community leaders called for a stop to the violence.

Coroner Emma Quimbley sees a lot of the murders, but says she never gets use to the violence.

"You can never get accustomed to it, when you get accustomed to it you loose sight of your purpose," said Emma Quimbley, Dougherty Co. Coroner.

The vigil's motto was 'Reshaping The Future and Honoring The Past.'

This was one of a number of events to honor victims this week in Dougherty County.
