Pelham hires new football coach

PELHAM, GA (WALB) - The Pelham City School Board approved the recommendation for Frankie Carroll to become Pelham High's new football coach Thursday night.

Carroll followed now Lowndes head coach Randy McPherson at Madison County High School in 2002.

In eight seasons, he won 89 games and led the Cowboys to the Florida 2A state championship in 2007.

Carroll stepped down two years ago but is glad to be back in coaching and looking forward to the challenge of rebuilding the Pelham program.

Frankie Carroll said. "I believe if you love competition, this is a challenge as a coach that you just live for to see if you can get it turned around."

Frankie Carroll takes over for Jim Morrell who resigned last month.
