Local basketball players sign on dotted line

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Westover High's man in the middle is looking to occupy that same role at Daytona State College. 

Westover High post player Joseph Harrell signed with Daytona State Community College this afternoon.

Harrell averaged 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots a game this past season for the Patriots.

He was on both Westover teams that made back to back trips to the GHSA final four.

Harrell is ready to take his game to new heights at Daytona.

Joseph Harrell said. "The level of competition in the state of Florida is unbelievable. It is the reason why I chose to take my talent to Daytona State College.


Joseph would like to play at Florida State after his days at Daytona State have ended.

Valdosta State head coach Mike Helfer smiling after the Blazers landed Joseph Reese from Pacelli High in Columbus.

Reese was a star quarterback for the Vikings football team but has decided to play basketball at Valdosta State.

He averaged 15 points a game this season for the Vikings.

Two Cairo High basketball players are heading to Alabama to play college ball.

Post player De'Keidrus Wade has signed to play at NAIA power Auburn Montgomery.

Wade averaged 12 points and nine rebounds a game for the Syrupmakers.

His teammate Terrell Bryant is headed to Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City.

Bryant averaged 17 points a game this season.


Syrupmaid forward Alex Tice is staying in Georgia.

Tice signed with Brewton-Parker College this morning along with Wade and Bryant.

Alex was a first team all region star at Cairo this season.

She averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds a game this season for the Syrupmaids.

 In Dawson, Terrell Academy's Carley Law becomes the third player to sign with Andrew College coach Mike Riffe this week.

Law was an all-state player for the Lady Eagles and was a big reason why Terrell Academy girls won three straight GISA state titles.

Carley Law was also member of the Terrell Academy state champion softball team in 2009 and the soccer team that finished second in the state last year.
