Knights take 12-1 record into region tournament

In high school tennis, the Deerfield-Windsor Knights face a new challenger for the region crown next week.  The defending region champion Knights have lost just one match this season.  That loss came to Tift Area.

The Panthers moved up to 3-AAA after having won three straight region titles in AA. The Knights did avenge that loss to Tift Area in their second regular season meeting. The two teams expect to see each other a third time on Monday.

Deerfield senior Beau Sinyard said "We have very very young team. We have one senior, two sophomores and all the rest are freshman and 8th graders. So I'm very very proud of our team for going up and competing for the other team in our region who are primarily composed of seniors and juniors."

Deerfield junior Nassar Rizvi said "We're a very young team now like Beau said. We're doing pretty good so far, I think we can win region and possibly do pretty good in state."

The GISA region 3-AAA tennis tournament is at ABAC Monday.
