ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Dozens of golfers showed up at Grand Island Country club in Lee County to play in the "Fore Kids Golf Classic."

It's the first time the Kiwanis Club of Lee County put on the event. Nearly 25 teams participated.

All the proceeds go to organizations that support children in the Dougherty county and lee county area.

"I've been in Kiwanis for thirty something years and I know they do a great job and anytime I can support a group that has a great civic effort they have I certainly want to support them," said Tommy Gay, a golfer in the event.

Not only were they playing for a good cause they also had some pretty good prizes such as a brand new truck or even a trip to Hawaii.
