A fed up business owner fired shots at thieves as they tried to steal equipment from him.

Check out this surveillance video.

It shows a thief carrying a coil from Spires AC and Electric in Berrien County around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Owner Stan Spires yelled at the man and fired shots as his wife called 9-1-1.

Spires says the suspect signaled a getaway driver and they took off leaving the coil behind.

A few hours later when Spires was asleep two men walked off with an air conditioning unit.

He thinks something spooked them because on the video it looks like they were trying to hide.

"It's really costing me a lot of money trying to stop it trying to save what's mine what I've worked so hard for and somebody's going to get like 30 dollars for something that's worth $350," said Spires.

Spires has added cameras on his property and bars on his windows.

His business has been burglarized several times before.

Investigators don't believe the two crimes this week are related.

If you have any information, Berrien County investigators want you to call them at (229) 686-7071.
