VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The 100 Black Men of Valdosta has a celebrity in town to speak at their annual black tie banquet Thursday.

Victoria Rowell starred in "The Young and the Restless" soap opera for 17 years.

She'll deliver an inspirational message and talk about her book "The Women Who Raised Me."

The dinner is a fundraising event.

Last year, 100 black men awarded many scholarships and fed 950 people at their Thanksgiving Day Foodfest.

"We've accomplished a great deal and hats off to the men of the organization and great work," said Roy Copeland, the president of the 100 Black Men of Valdosta.  "Victoria will just add to the lure of the local chapter of 100 black men of america and we're appreciative she's here."

The 100 black men seeks to energize young people and guide them in a positive direction.
