Albany NAACP to elect officers

After the NAACP ousted the former president of the Albany Dougherty Branch, new officers will be elected this weekend.  The national NAACP forced out Wright and other local officers for violating the group's bylaws last year.

He refused to pay a national fee he claimed was unfair.  Saturday, elections will be held at the Temple of Hope Church of God in Christ on Sands Drive.

So long as you have been a member for 30 days prior to April 9th, you can vote to place people in office or run for election.

"Now we are getting some new officers whoever they might be and hopefully they will be electrified so they can get out and be proactive in this community and do the work of civil rights."

Elections take place from 2 to 6 PM.  The officers installation is at 7 PM.  The Keynote Speaker will be Rev. Gill Ford from the National NAACP along with the Georgia State Conference President Edward Dubose.
