The Sowega Council on Aging held the Golden Olympics Thursday morning for seniors who participate in their programs.

They took part in football throw, horseshoe competitions, and Frisbee toss.

Participants told us being part of this event was about more than just competition, it was also about getting outside and having fun.

Ann Gaither said she had, "A lot of fun. It's all fun, it's all good. It's wonderful, a beautiful day, a lot of fun."

Ruth Cooper added, "I came out in this nice, fresh, sunshine. It feels so good out here and it's just nice. I just love it."

The seniors we spoke to say just because you reach your golden years doesn't mean you have to sit on the sidelines and be a spectator.

They say it's important to get out and move, and it helps prevent stiffness.
