UGA & Phoebe open College of Pharmacy clinical campus

Albany's Phoebe Putney Hospital has another partnership aimed at improving healthcare in the Region.

In a joint ceremony with UGA's College of Pharmacy Wednesday college and hospital leaders cut the ribbon on a new clinical campus.

It will be housed in Phoebe's Education and Training Center.

UGA and Phoebe leaders emphasized how important this new partnership is given the area's need for Pharmacists.

The hope is some of the students who train here will stay in the area.

"I had a young lady come up a second ago who introduced herself, she came to the clinical campus from Alpharetta, she decided to stay in Albany and work here, that's what we want," said Joel Wernick, Phoebe President.

UGA's College has about 550 Pharmacy students, they hope in the future as many as 50 students will train in Southwest Georgia.

Albany joins campuses in Athens, Augusta, Savannah, and Atlanta as part of the UGA College of Pharmacy.
