AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

An Americus man and former banker is accused of stealing thousands from his former employer BB&T.

Monday he's out on bond for the same amount of money investigators believe he stole.

GBI agents arrested 40-year old Shannen Kitchens Friday afternoon. He's charged with one count of theft by taking.

Kitchens was a commercial loan officer when he was fired several weeks ago by BB&T in Montezuma. So far, have accounted for $30,000 they think Kitchens stole since November 2009, but they believe that amount could grow.

Kitchens was released on bond from the Macon County Jail.
