ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Phoebe Putney Board voted Monday morning to set April 14th as the closing date for the purchase of Palmyra Park Hospital.
Phoebe Putney's Hospital Authority met Monday morning to hear the final details before closing with HCA to purchase Palmyra Medical Center.
Board members reviewed the lease and other asset transfers before the deal is complete. Hospital officials say there's a lot of paperwork and that must be completed before the deal can go through. They're hopeful the paperwork can be signed in the next two weeks.
President and CEO of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Joel Wernick, says the board had to delay the closing three times in order to finalize complex regulations and legal details.
"If you can imagine closing on the purchase of a house, this is that only times a hundred as far as details go," said Wernick. "We have certainly responded to all the various regulatory requests that have been by us."
Some of those requests also include transferring licenses and clarifying the existing lease which will last 40 years.
