Albany State University is celebrating 108 years of education.

Friday, hundreds of people gathered in HPER gym at ASU to celebrate founder's day.

Dr. William Anderson was the guest speaker at the event.

He was one of the founders of the Civil Rights Movement movement in Albany and throughout Southwest Georgia.

He talked about how much Albany has advanced in the past 50 years, like now having an African American Mayor.

Mayor Willie Adams presented Anderson with a key to the city.

The daughter of Albany State's founder Joseph Holley also addressed today's crowd.
