AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southwestern shortstop Nichole Griffin is making the most of what has to be called a second chance.
The former Lee County Lady Trojan was granted a sixth season by the NCAA after missing the last two years with a collarbone injury.
Griffin had surgery last fall was cleared to play at the start of the season in February.
She has showed no signs of rust.
Nichole is the Lady Canes leading hitter and is first or at the top in virtually all of the team's offensive categories.
Nichole says she didn't know if she would get the chance to play again while watching from the dugout the last two years.
Nichole Griffin said. "It was really hard watching the girls play and having to sit there on the bench. It was nice to support them but it was a lot different being on the field. I mean I just tried to relax this year. It is my last year. I try not to take anything too bad. Stay positive and do the best I can."
The GSW softball team hosts North Georgia on Friday afternoon.
