ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney officials issued an alert after it appeared that a baby had been adducted from the hospital.
Police say it was the woman's own baby, who she walked out of the hospital with, at Phoebe Putney.
The mother left the hospital without going through the normal checkout process. That triggered Phoebe's emergency protocol.
Brad Hallford, Chief Compliance officer, says within moments of the alert, Phoebe employees were stationed at every entrance and exit to make certain no one walked out with a baby that wasn't theirs.
"We usually escort the mother out, make sure she gets in the car and every body's safe," said Hallford. "One of our employees noticed the mothers leaving the unit without being escorted and asked the young lady to stop. She didn't and that's when the code pink was called."
Mother and baby were allowed to leave the hospital and the all clear was called.
Phoebe officials say today's code was at least good training for the hospital.
