ATLANTA – A retired railroad worker from Albany has won a jumbo Georgia Lottery prize. Oakie Brown, 69, played the instant game Jumbo Bucks Classic and won $50,000.

"It feels great," Brown exclaimed. "Super great." Mini Mart, located at 2422 Stuart Ave. in Albany, sold the lucky top prize ticket.

According to Brown, he will "pay some bills and take a little down time." Brown claimed his prize Friday at the Georgia Lottery's Tifton office.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.

More than 1.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
