Agents say that police responded to the apartment because of a burglar alarm. Officers found the back door broken open and went inside. That's where they detected a strong odor of marijuana, and saw pot in plain view.More >>
COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A Columbus police officer was treated after he was bitten while arresting a man suspected of stealing a television from a home.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports officers responding to a reported burglary around 12:20 a.m. Friday saw a man climbing out the window of a home.
After a chase, the man bit 33-year-old Officer Fahrenbruch on the arm as he was taken to the ground.
Police say 19-year-old Malachi Beard faces burglary and obstruction charges. He was in the Muscogee County jail Sunday on $500 bond.
Beard named 18-year-old Brandon Waldrup and a 16-year-old as accomplices.
Waldrup was arrested and charged with burglary and prowling.
The 16-year-old was charged with burglary, prowling and curfew violation.
It wasn't immediately clear whether any of the three had a lawyer.
