ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A jury did not buy an Albany woman's claim of self-defense.  Friday, they convicted her of murdering her ex-husband, Christopher Donaldson.

After deliberating for 90-minutes, the jury found 33-year old Marlina Hamilton guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery family violence.

They found her not guilty of malice murder. Hamilton admitted she shot 32-year old Christopher Donaldson twice in her Habersham Road home last October 11th.

She testified he repeatedly abused her and hit her twice just before she shot him.

District Attorney Greg Edwards said Hamilton took the law into her hands and stressed that victims of domestic violence need to get help. Hamilton will be sentenced April 15th.
