CHARLOTTE, NC (WALB) - It appears the Albany Panthers have found a quarterback for the season after Friday's win at Carolina.
2010 SIFL player of the year Cecil Lester relieved rookie quarterback A.J. McKenna after just the first series and led the Panthers to a 58-45 victory.
The Speed took a 21-17 lead with a touchdown with just over a minute to play in the first half.
Lester found John Harris in the endzone in the final seconds to put the Panthers up for good 24-21.
The second half started with Lester throwing two touchdowns passes then Clyde Washington returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Lester's touchdown pass to Antowntis Cutts completed the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Lester finished with 6 touchdown passes in the game.
The Panthers are 2-0 and will host 2010 SIFL champ Columbus on April 2nd.
After playing two quarterbacks in the first two games, Panthers head coach Lucious Davis said during practice this week he wanted to go with one before facing the Lions next week.
