ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Four Albany Firefighters and a pumper truck are in Clinch County tonight helping fight the wildfires.

The crew from Station 11 on Hill Road left early Friday morning.

The call for assistance was sent out through the GEMA emergency plan. The four Albany firefighters say they are excited to answer the call and be able to help the community in need.

Albany Fire Department Lt. Lorenzo Hall said  "Pretty much we are gong to be protecting houses that are near the fire. So they won't catch fire. And to keep any fires around them under control, so they won't damage none of the homes."

The Albany firefighters are not sure how long they'll stay in Clinch County for the wildfire duty but expect to be there at least through most of tonight.

Worth and Berrien Counties are also assisting in fighting the fire in Clinch.
