ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some men who keep our community safe were recognized for their hard work Thursday. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Philema road honored Dougherty County first responders.

Danny Ball earned the law enforcement officer of the year award. He works with the Dougherty County Police Department.

Michael Pinson is the EMT of the year. He also won a state award and has a chance to gain national honors.

Both men had to go through an extensive review process to get selected for the honors.
