Grease fire displaces family

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A northeast Albany family is displaced from their home after a fire Thursday night.

The tenants inside the home on 1908 Riverview Drive say they left a skillet unattended on the stove for just a moment. Next thing they knew, the kitchen was on fire.

Everyone got out safely, including two children and four dogs. The Red Cross is putting the family in a hotel for the night. They were able to salvage some clothing but lost many of their belongings.

If you'd like to assist the family with any donations, you can call Shawanna Longie at (229) 288-8018.
