Medlen continues rehab

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (WALB) -  Atlanta Braves pitcher Kris Medlen hopes to get back in the rotation next year.

Medlen won six games in 14 starts last year before suffering an elbow injury.

He underwent Tommy John surgery last August and isn't expected to be back on the mound until late in the 2011 season at the earliest.

Medlen says he takes comfort in seeing Tim Hudson, Jonny Venters and Peter Moylan all make it back from the Tommy John procedure.

The one thing he is having trouble with is patience.

Kris Medlen said."When I first started playing catch, I wanted to test it. I just wanted to see what I could get away with. It was sort of barking at me when I was trying to let it go a little bit. I just have to be patient like everyone said and I have been doing that."

The Braves announced Brandon Beachy would be their fifth starter this season and option pitcher Mike Minor to AAA Gwinnett.
