ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  A Dougherty County jury convicted 33-year old Marlina Hamilton of killing her ex-husband, 32-year old Christopher Donaldson, last October.

She was found guilty late Friday of several charges, including felony murder, but not malice murder.

Hamilton was tried for the murder of her ex-husband.

She testified that he hit her just before she shot him twice.

33 year old Marlina Hamilton told the jury that 32 year old Christopher Donaldson beat her, and choked her unconscious in the days leading up to the shooting.

She said after police ordered him to leave her home, Donaldson returned and started arguing. She says he hit her with something and she saw light flashes in her head, just before shooting him.

Prosecutors say she planned to kill him.

Closing arguments will be made Friday in the trial, and then the jury will begin deliberations.
