ALBANY, GA (WALB) -   The Georgia Emergency Management Agency recently randomly inspected four Dougherty County Schools to make sure they're safe.

The emergency team walked through Dougherty Westover and Albany High Schools and Albany Middle School. Several of those schools are currently under renovation.

Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree says the team looked at a wide variety of safety issues.

"They make sure that students check in they have their ID, faculty check in with their ID, there's things not hanging on the floor that could cause someone to trip and fall all of that's there. They look at our bullying laws and our acts and practices," Murfree said.

School officials say it was a positive experience for the school system to know that its schools are safe.
