The Seminoles are facing Cinderella Virginia Commonwealth in the regional semifinals.
The Rams have had a chip on their shoulder after they were one of the last at-large teams selected for the NCAA tournament field.
FSU feels they have something to prove in their first Sweet 16 appearance in 18 years.
The Seminoles have had the third best winning percentage in the ACC the last three years and finished in third place in the conference this season but received a 10th seed in the tournament.
That is just one seed higher than VCU.
Head coach Leonard Hamilton said. "Duke and North Carolina have been so dominant that even though you are in third place it doesn't seem to get the national attention that the Sweet 16 does."
Junior guard Luke Loucks said. "I still think we are not satisfied. We set a goal in the beginning of the year to make the final four. That is still our goal. Nothing has changed."
Florida State plays VCU on Friday at 9:57 p.m. at the Alamodome.
