ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Several officials from Fulton County Sheriff's Office traveled to Pelham Monday to inspect the Pelham Jail after the death of a teenager Friday morning.
A detention officer discovered 17-year-old Fabian Avery unresponsive during a routine walk-through Friday morning. Avery was transferred to Pelham from Fulton County and was awaiting transfer to state prison to serve a 13-year sentence for armed robbery and aggravated assault. Pelham officials say Fulton County Officials found everything satisfactory.
They're still awaiting word from the medical examiner on what caused Avery's death. They say there were no signs of trauma.
