ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Kids develop their educational knowledge at school, but they may be getting more of an education than you want elsewhere.

Teachers, counselors and parent coordinators met at the Isabella school complex in Albany Friday for an HIV Summit.  Part of that summit dealt with the information kids are exposed to regarding sex.

A lot of that comes from music, TV and other forms of entertainment, not just other students, and adults need to know what kids are hearing.

Marc Fomby said, "We are the ones responsible for making a difference in our children's lives.  We've got to teach them.  We've got to educate them.  Most of the kids know what the messages are in the music on the radio today and just having a parent involved will make a world of difference if those prevention efforts were in place."

Participants were also briefed on HIV/AIDS and addition and the support services available to students with the virus or disease.
