Hahira, GA (WALB) -  A Hahira woman was found dead buried in her yard Thursday night. Friday investigators are searching for her husband who their calling a person of interest.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide. Investigators worked through the night to recover her body. Neighbors we talked to are shocked.

Investigators searched the Scruggs Circle home Thursday night and found the body of 51-year old Lynn Pendleton. Her husband William Pendleton is on the run and investigators say he's a person of interest in her death.

"It enrages me to even think about it," said neighbor Travis Miller.

Miller says he saw Pendleton out doing yard work but hadn't seen her in a while.

"For that to happen, it's very disturbing, very disturbing especially three houses down," said Miller.

Her family reported her missing Wednesday.

Last night investigators found the woman in this fenced in backyard where she was buried.

"They had crime scene tape around the property," said Justin Jacobs. "They had flood lights in the back yard."

Neighbor Wendy Young said it appears William Pendleton was selling his wife's belongings on last Thursday.

"He was actually having an in-house sale," said Young. "Everything must go. When we went over there and we checked out the place and we bought a few things and trinkets and stuff for our little girl and I didn't think nothing of it but it was kind of weird."

Young said she asked about his wife and he told them she was taking care of someone with cancer and that the home being foreclosed.

"If I had known she was even missing we wouldn't have never set foot in that man's house," said Young.

Young said she'd seen the woman driving a red camaro with flames painted on it. The same one William Pendleton was last seen in. Neighbors say they're sad for the family and are eager to find out what happened. Lynn Pendleton's body has been sent to the Macon Crime lab for an autopsy.

51-year old William Pendleton is six foot two inches tall and 156 pounds. He's worked construction jobs in Missouri and lived in Washington State. He has warrants out for his arrest in an unrelated investigation.
