ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For a second day, parents in Lee County are camping out to ensure their four year olds spots in Pre-K. Thursday's parents checked out yesterday's line and seemed better prepared for the chilly night ahead.
Wednesday night temperatures dipped into the 40's as parents spent the night camped out at the school administration building.
Thursday, some parents backed their SUV's in line for a place to sleep and brought tents and air mattresses.
"Actually I was planning on getting out here today at 2:00, but I changed my plans from seeing it last night and got out here at 9:30 this morning," said Jimmy Jones.
"Setting the tent up, got he truck set up to sleep in tonight, got a lean-to to keep the sun off of us today so my wife can sit out here so I can go back to work then we'll be here tonight, go get the grill and we're going to cook out," David Daughtry said.
Thursday 105 students from the east side of the county signed up for pre-k. School Officials remind parents even if you filled out the online survey... you must still come in person to the administration office to register. The program could have as many as 242 opening. Registration resumes Friday at 8:00 AM.
