ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Four South Georgia Jail inmates are facing more charges after a failed escape attempt.

They tried to break out of the Colquitt County jail over the weekend. Investigators say Alicia Sheffield, Cari Welch, Glenn Lashley, and William Poole crawled into the ceiling and tried to escape through the ventilation system.

They were foiled when a jailer spotted a hand through an open hatch. The group never made it outside the jail complex. They are charged with escape and damaging government property for damage to duct work.
