Rome is listed as the top tight end in the nation.
He is also one of the post players in the country.
His father Stan Rome played both sports at Clemson and Jay is going to give it a try for his freshman year.
If all goes well next year, he will play both sports for his entire career at Georgia.
Jay Rome said. "I talked to the football coaches about and they have been relaying back and forth with the basketball coaches about it. Everybody in Athens is more than happy to let me play both sports. As I go up after football season, I am going to go into basketball season at UGA."
Jay Rome will join Wilcox County's Nick Marshall as two sport starts.
Marshall signed to play football at Georgia in February and will also play basketball.
