ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Seven new businesses have moved into downtown Albany so far this year.

Two more are on the way this month with more to come in April. Downtown Manager Aaron Blair says business owners are seeing that bad perceptions of downtown just aren't true.

DAJ Image, a photography and graphic design studio, will move into a loft over Eclipse. The Downtown Fresh Market will move in later this month and Blair says some restaurants are showing interest.

"We speak to a lot of people interested in doing restaurants our lack of build out restaurant space is usually what deters, but I can say we have a lot of activity in that arena we just haven't had any that we can announce yet," said Albany Downtown Manager Aaron Blair.

Next month, Global Essence will move in along south Jackson Street and Daniel Titus.com web and graphic design will move in on Washington Street. Other new businesses include a hair salon, a tax service, and an alterations and repair shop.
