Young hospital patients get a special delivery

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The youngest patients at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital got some special gifts Tuesday afternoon in memory of an Albany baby. Madeline's Mission donated several hundred teddy bears to children in Phoebe's pediatric and neonatal intensive care units.

Landon and Amanda Wildes started that organization nearly two years ago to honor their little girl Madeline who contracted meningitis as a baby and died. They donated her organs, and now they deliver teddy bears to young transplant recipients and patients at several hospitals.

Amanda Wildes said, "Well of course, it's very special to me because it helps me to realize that my daughter's life still makes a difference every day."

Children helped deliver those teddy bears at Phoebe. Amanda Wildes says it brings her joy to make a hospital stay a little easier for kids.
