CAIRO, GA (WALB) –Country music legend and Georgia native Travis Tritt is in Cairo shooting scenes for "Fishers of Men."

Crews set up for scenes at the old Cairo county jail.

Tritt couldn't talk to us because he was stuck having his hair and makeup done for his role as Eddie Waters. But production crews say everyone is excited to catch glimpses of Tritt around town.

"Travis is obviously very excited to play the role. We've been talking to him off and on over the past few days about it," says the director of the film, Joshua Mills. "And it's definitely created a buzz around here. He's got a huge fan base in country music as well as the south."

The production staff first considered Sam Elliot and Alan Jackson before choosing Travis Tritt for the role.

They all say it's a perfect fit.

"Fishers of Men" will be released sometime in January.
