Movie begins filming in Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) –A Hollywood production crew began filming a movie Monday in Bainbridge.

"Fishers of Men" drew a large crowd in as they shot a scene starring Alex and Graham Miller of "Desperate Housewives" and "Pushing Daisies" fame. In coming weeks, country music legend Travis Tritt will join the cast for filming.

Members of the Desertwind Films production company began their Monday at 6 AM, preparing for one of the biggest events Bainbridge has seen in a long time.

"We rolled cameras at 8:32 Monday morning after 18 months of pre-production work. Today we officially began principle photography. We're very excited," says the film's CFO and Executive Producer, Steven Camp.

The film "Fishers of Men" is a Christian-based film about twin brothers who lead two very different lives. Because the movie is set in the 1950s, the film crew must pay special attention to the setting.

"There's little things like throughout the square through the windows you can see pretty much everything," says T.J. Amato, Director and Producer of the movie. "So if someone walks by who's not in costume or if there's a car that's not period, it'll ruin the shot."

But one onlooker, Foster Wurst, says the crew is doing a great job at staying authentic. And Wurst should know. He grew up here during the '50s.

"I've seen a lot and have been here a long time. So it looks like I can remember it."

And although the crew must stop filming for people walking out of shops or passing cars, they say they don't mind an audience.

"God bless them, the more the merrier," Camp assures. "Anyone that wants to come out please do. Of course we have security and barriers you can't cross, but if you want to, come out and witness this."

Wurst says he's glad he came out to watch.

"I'm telling ya, all these people working together, it means a lot," says Wurst. "It's a job to get all of this put together. It's gonna be a magnificent movie. I can hardly wait for it to come out."

And he won't have to wait too long with a release date slated for early January.

The production crew plans to shoot five-day work weeks with each day consisting of 12-hours of filming.

They will wrap up filming on October 11th.
