ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A fiery crash near Tifton killed a Tennessee teenager and badly injured another.

Their Nissan Maxima that slammed into a tree and burst into flames Wednesday.  17-year old Justin Householder of Knoxville, a passenger in the car, was killed.

The driver, 17-year-old Adam Wise also of Knoxville, was critically injured and airlifted to South Georgia Medical Center then transferred to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville where he is in critical condition.

Troopers say the teens were traveling on I-75 but got off onto Adcock Road near the Tift/Cook County line.

Just before 5:00pm, their car ran off the road, overturned, slammed into a tree and burst into flames.

Troopers don't know why the teens got off the Interstate and onto Adcock Road.     Both were wearing their seat belts.
