Pelham, GA (WALB) – A 19-year-old Mitchell county man, critically injured in a car accident in June, is finally back home from an Atlanta hospital.
His family still needs help with medical bills and travel costs, so friends are putting on a benefit concert Saturday.
Benjamin Daniel fell asleep at the wheel on June 7th and wrapped his car around a tree. The crash paralyzed him from the waist down. He was being treated at the Shepard Spinal Center.
But he returned home to Pelham last night. Daniel will celebrate his 20th birthday at the benefit concert Saturday night at the Barn in Pelham.
"It's been a huge cost for his family," said Chris Cranford. "To take it back even a little further his mother had a stroke about a month before the accident. So she'd been in the hospital and the day she came home was the day the accident happened so they have tons of medical bills."
The fundraiser will actually start at noon at the Hinsonton Community House. They'll sell $7 BBQ chicken plates there and in the Camilla Wal-Mart Parking lot.
The music starts at 6 at the Barn. Tickets are $7.
Daniel's band "Neural Implosion" will play along with several other rock bands.
