ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An Albany church food kitchen is expecting a record crowd for their annual Thanksgiving community meal.
St. Clare's Center has been serving a Thanksgiving meal to those in need since 1970. Directors expect more than 300 people for Monday's meal. They normally serve 180 people a day, three days a week.
They say they could use more donations because the need is growing.
"The big cans of vegetables, is always good," said St. Clare's volunteer Alma Goodwin. "Macaronis, rice, we use a lot of that. Any of that would be very good."
The St. Clare's annual Thanksgiving meal will begin Monday at 11 AM at the center at 2005 Martin Luther King Junior Drive.
Directors think they have enough food for that meal but are asking for donations to help them feed the hungry over the rest of the holiday period.
