ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  One Hundred and fifty-four people have filed claims in federal court against the parent company of a Blakely peanut butter plant blamed for the nation's largest Salmonella outbreak.

Peanut Corp. of America filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after the outbreak, which sickened 700 and was linked to at least nine deaths. Bankruptcy trustee says claims have been filed for 154 people who say they were sickened by a salmonella outbreak.

The claims include some that trickled in after the October 31st deadline, as well as some that have been withdrawn. Right now it's unclear how many ultimately will be eligible for compensation from the 12 million Peanut Corporation of America insurance policy fund approved by a bankruptcy judge in Virginia.
