(NBC)- A purchasing director of North Andover, MA, is accused of selling surplus town property on eBay and pocketing the profits.
Joseph Lydick is charged with larceny and embezzlement by a municipal official after police say he listed old police cruisers, fire equipment, and Department of Public Works trucks on the internet site. In all, he is accused of stealing more than $10,00 from the town.
Normally, these items would be auctioned off with the money going to help the town.
Town Manager Mark Reese was the first to alert police last week, and says Lydick is on unpaid leave while police investigate.
