ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Albany Police warn you that crime usually increases as the holidays approach.
Earlier this week two men were robbed at gunpoint as they got out of their car on Cromartie Beach Road. The men had guns, and
killed one of the robbers in an exchange of gunfire.
Police say people should take precautions to make sure they are not crime victims, even when going into their own homes.
Detective Schemika Foster said "Be aware of their surroundings. Again, have a buddy system. If you are on the phone when you are coming in, maybe leave the phone on as you walk into their home. So the person you are on the phone with is aware you are in the house safely."
Police say that crooks are looking for easy crimes of opportunity during the holiday season, so be aware of your surroundings and don't walk alone in parking lots. ©2009 WALB News. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. Feedback
