LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) – Criminals sometimes think they're an easier target.

But some women aren't waiting to find out, arming themselves to use deadly force if necessary.

The Lee County Sheriff's office is giving them class room instruction to do just that.

After two robbery suspects were shot and killed in Albany this year Lee County officials say the women and guns class is fitting.

They'll learn how to shooting the gun, proper stance, grip, and safety on handling the weapon.

"People that have fire arms are now looking and saying you know what I've got a gun laying around the house, I would I would like to know how to use it a little better," said Maj. Chris Owens, Lee County Sheriff's Office.

20 women registered for this class, they'll hit the firing range this weekend.

The Lee County Sheriff's office may hold another class as soon as next month.

Call the office for more information.
