ALBANY, GA (WALB) – We'd all like the chance to find some hidden treasures, but this week in Albany, you have the chance to sell some of yours. A road show has come to Albany looking for valuables you're willing to part with.

Gold... Silver... And coins are the hottest commodities.

At first glance, they look like regular dimes and quarters, but they are worth three, even four times face value.

Debbie and Daniel Marquardt came to the Treasure Hunters road show from Dawson to try their luck.  "Just to see what it was worth. My mother left this. She had saved this stuff and she died about six years ago and she had saved them so we thought we would come out and see what they were worth."

And after all, they weren't doing them any good where they were.  "They had just been sitting in a safety deposit box."

So she took them out just in time to get a little extra cash to help pay for Christmas. After all, they have two new grand babies to spoil.  "Two new grandchildren, yes. We need the extra money."

And they aren't alone. Lots of folks are coming in, trying to pad their pocketbooks.

"We're looking for old items that are worth big money, basically we're digging for treasure," said J. B. Baird

From coins and collections to gold. "The better the gold, the better the pay. Gold hit an all time high this morning, $1,119 an ounce, so it really is a good time to cash in."

The Marquardts are glad they came. Happy to take a little extra money home.  "Pretty good!"

The Treasure Hunters road show will be in Albany through Friday at Best Western. They say you can bring just about anything to be checked out.
