By Stephanie Springer - bio | email ALBANY, GA (WALB) –A Tift County woman is battling a rare medical condition and if she doesn't get help soon, she may lose her arm. Folks in the community are stepping up. They're trying to make sure she gets the medical attention she needs.
Five months ago Tina Kegebein considered herself a normal, healthy and happy 25-year old woman.
But all that changed on a trip to the beach.
"I was driving a stick and it was hurting my hand really bad swelling up really bad," said Kegebein.
Tina was diagnosed with Vascular Malformation a rare condition causing the veins in her right arm to knot up like a ball of yarn, causing severe pain.
The condition has gone from bad to worse and now she can no longer use her right arm
"I'm right handed so not being able to do anything like writing or driving my car because it is a stick," said Kegebein.
And if she doesn't get treatment soon they will have to do amputation.
Luckily she found a doctor in Colorado who says he can treat her and possibly save her arm but with no insurance and on medical leave from her job..it will cost her around $230,000.00
But Today, Kegebein had an emotional meeting with a man who has taken it upon himself make sure Tina gets the help she needs.
Fuhrman heard of Tina's dilemma and is organizing a concert to raise money for her trips.
"That's our main concern right now is getting enough money to get her out there and get her back," said Fuhrman.
Tina leaves for Colorado on November 24th in the meantime Fuhrman says he will keep searching for ways to help Tina pay for the expenses.
November 21st "Hands of Life Concert"- All proceeds go to Tina.
