ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany's biggest loser is losing even more. We're following the progress of Deputy EMA director Jim Vaught after his lap band surgery September 22nd.

Just before surgery, he weighed 457 pounds. Last week, he stepped off the scales 56 pounds lighter at 401 pounds. Vaught says he feels great and is thrilled about his progress so far.

He said, "It's a milestone to get past that 400 barrier and get down to 300's and then of course the next big one is 200, to get down to the 200's or break the 300 barrier, go into the 200's, so I'm taking it one day at a time and I'm following the program."

Even though his wife has taken in his trousers, Vaught is having trouble keeping them on his waist. He says he plans to buy a nice pair of suspenders to help keep his pants up.
