ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Volunteers worked more than 100,000 hours to help clean up Albany and Dougherty County over the past year. Record numbers of volunteers participated in events to get rid of litter in the community.
Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful says for every government dollar invested in the program, more than $10 was returned by volunteers.
KADB Board President Jeanette Henderson said, "It makes me very proud when you're able to get that many volunteers together and make sure that our city and our community is kept clean. I think that says a lot about Albany, Georgia and the place where we live."
During the Great American Cleanup in April, volunteers removed 36 tons of debris from more than 90 miles of road.
