Teacher may face punishment for homosexuality assignment

Posted: Updated:

(NBC) – A high school teacher has been suspended from his job after he gave an optional extra credit assignment to read an article on homosexuality in animals.

Dan LeLong is an English honors teacher at Southwestern School District in Piasa, IL. LeLong’s supporters have posted their thoughts and feelings to a facebook group.

Students say the parent of one of the students saw the website and thought it was not appropriate for her child. School officials, according to parents, have set a hearing for DeLong for Monday night at the school board offices.
