ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Halloween is one of the deadliest nights on Georgia roads because of drunk drivers.
Dougherty County Police plans to heavily patrol the roads Saturday night and will target impaired drivers.
Seven people were killed in Halloween crashes in Georgia in 2007.
Nationwide, 58 percent of all highway fatalities on Halloween involved a drunk driver.
Dougherty County Police Lt. Thomas Jackson said "We don't have trouble with people partying, or having a good time. But when you leave that party, if have had too much to drink, you need to have a designated driver. Or you don't need to drive at all. Make some other arrangements to get yourself home, because it's become a deadly holiday."
Dougherty County Police say drivers need to slow down below speed limits during Halloween, because of the danger of kids in the streets.
