GBI issues statement on Broxton death

Broxton, Ga. - On Sunday, October 25, 2009, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Broxton Police Department requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Douglas Office to assist with investigating the death of Jason L. Rish, 34 YOA, of Broxton, Ga.

Investigation revealed that Rish was driven to a residence on Leggett Street in Broxton, Georgia, where he confronted the homeowner at a door and was shot and killed.

The homeowners name is not being released at this time pending further investigation; however the homeowner and Rish knew each other and had a confrontation earlier Saturday night at a party.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab. No charges have been filed at this time regarding the death. 

The investigation is still on-going; therefore no other details will be released at this time.
